LOCATION/SERVICE AREA

Where are you located?

We are strictly a “come to you” service. We meet you at your desired location and repair your device on-site. Whether you are in an office, at a coffee shop, at home, or even at the gym, we will meet you anywhere. All you have to do is provide an address, date, time, and we will be there!

Do you need to use my home or office to do the repair?

We do all of our repairs outside in our service vehicles. Our mission is to make the process of repairing your device as quick and painless as possible. That way, you can continue your day, uninterrupted, while we repair your device!

What areas do you service?

Our “Service Area” page/section contains a map of our regular service area, a list of zip codes, and a list of neighborhood names. If you like our pricing and services, but live farther away from Houston’s surrounding areas, we can still schedule a place to meet in or around the Houston area. We’ve had customers from as far out as Baytown meet us outside of Houston for our unique glass only repair service! Feel free to reach out via email, phone, or even text to see if we can meet you outside of Houston.

REPAIR TIME

How long will my repair take?

Most repairs take between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the device and complexity of the repair. Glass only repairs take between 3 and 5 hours. Water damage repairs must be held for 24 hours to monitor the efficacy of the repair. Feel free to reach out and ask about specific repair times.

Do I need to wait around for the technician to complete the repair?

No, you do not need to wait around, if you do not want to. We understand how busy life can be! If you would rather have a technician pick up your device and return it at a time (or even location) that is more convenient for you, we can arrange that.

Why do the "Glass Only" repairs say it can take 3 to 5 hours?

We offer a unique service to replace only the cracked glass of your device, saving you money! Most repair companies choose to replace the entire display assembly (LCD/OLED + Glass) of devices in order to save time. This shortcut makes the repair cost much higher because you are being charged for a new display assembly when one may not even be needed! Glass only repairs require specialized equipment in a controlled, dust-free environment. The glass separation process is complex and time consuming, but in the end, will allow you to keep your OEM display AND save you money!

Why do water damage repairs take 24 hours?

Water damage repairs must be held for 24 hours in order to monitor the efficacy of the repair. Water damage repairs can be very tricky and symptoms may show up sporadically. It is our policy to hold the device overnight and monitor it hourly before returning it, to ensure there aren’t any lingering issues.

PAYMENT/PRICING

Do I pay before or after the repair?

We only collect payment after a repair is completed to your satisfaction! The only exception is water damage repairs: there will be a standard, nonrefundable service fee of $49.99 for water damaged repairs that must be paid up front, regardless of the ability to restore all functions of your device.

What kind of payment do you accept (cash, cards, checks, etc.)?

We accept cash and credit/debit cards only. We do NOT accept checks, Apple Pay, PayPal, or cryptocurrency at this time.

How much does a repair cost?

Our “Pricing” page lists the most common devices and repair requests that we receive. If you don’t see your device or repair listed, feel free to reach out via email, phone, or even text. We will respond with a quote within a few hours!

I saw a lower price from a competitor, can you match it?

Yes, if you provide the competitor’s name, we will verify the pricing and do our best to match it!

GENERAL

What do I need to do or have before my scheduled repair?

Prior to any repair on your device, you should always back up your device. You should also have the passcode to your device. Before starting a repair, our technicians are required to complete a quick test of all the functions of your device, which requires access into the device.

How do I book a repair?

You can book a repair by clicking here. Once you are on the booking page, simply: 1) Select your device, 2) Select the issue you are having, 3) Choose a date and time, and 4) Input your information. Do you sell accessories, such as cases or screen protectors?

Yes! We sell a variety of tempered glass screen protectors, such as clear, privacy, colored, 3D, and more! The best part is: we install them for you - free of charge! We only sell tempered glass protectors that are designed for maximum protection from impacts, drops, scratches, scrapes, and bumps. Their high-definition, clear, hydrophobic, and oleophobic screen coating protects against sweat and oil residue from fingerprints.

Cases and colored/special tempered glass protectors must be requested before your appointment. If requested, the technician will bring a variety to choose from.

Do you buy and sell used devices?

Yes, we do buy and sell devices. All devices that we sell are thoroughly tested, ensured to be fully functional (unless otherwise noted), and include a 30 day warranty. Our device selling inventory fluctuates constantly. Please give us a call or send an email to inquire about our current device inventory if you are interested in purchasing a device.

We do NOT purchase devices that are blacklisted, iCloud locked, water damaged, or financed (not fully paid off). Quotes vary depending on the model, cosmetic condition, and functionality of the device. Please give us a call or email to request a quote for us to buy your device.

WARRANTY

Is there a warranty on repairs?

Parts replaced and labor on repairs are covered for 30 days after the repair date. Screen assembly replacements are not eligible for the 30 day warranty, if the device shows any indication of a bent frame and/or housing. Devices that have been previously opened and/or cannot be tested in the pre-repair screening are also not eligible for the 30 day warranty. Any liquid damage, physical damage or disassembly of a device/accessory (other than by Cell Phone Restore Houston) will automatically void the warranty. Cases and screen protectors do not have a warranty, due to cosmetic wear and tear.

WATER DAMAGE

My device has liquid damage, can you fix that?

As always, we will do our best to restore your device to its original working condition! Most water damaged devices that are brought to us within one week of exposure are salvageable. We do not accept devices that are water damaged longer than 1 week or those that were exposed to ocean water, motor oil, or carbonated sodas. Water damage treatment may restore functions of the device, but results may be only temporary. With time, other issues could surface due to corrosion.

How much does it cost to repair water damaged devices and how long does it take?

Water damaged devices will be held for 24 hours in order to monitor the efficacy of the repair. There is NO warranty on water damaged devices. There will be a standard, non-refundable service fee of $49.99 for water damaged repairs that must be paid up front, regardless of the ability to restore all functions of your device. If additional parts, such as: charging ports, batteries, home buttons, flex cables, cameras, etc., need to be replaced, the price of the parts will be charged post-repair on top of the $49.99 that was paid up front.

GLASS ONLY

I want to do the glass only repair. What should I know about the process beforehand?

During your appointment, we will evaluate the display (LCD, OLED, etc.) and determine if there are any cracks, lines, or defects. If an issue is found with your display, we highly recommend replacing it along with the glass. Choosing to replace the glass only on a damaged display not only voids our warranty, but can also lead to further damage of your display in the long term.

OLED vs LCD

Some repairs say "OLED" and some say "LCD," what is the difference?

LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays) are built on a backlight—a panel as large as the screen that produces a constant white light anytime the screen is on. A series of polarizers and filters are layered in front of the backlight to control the light and produce the image you see on the screen. It’s been the dominant technology used in flat-panel displays for almost two decades, but keeping that backlight on draws a lot of power— a big disadvantage in a portable device.

An OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display does away with the backlight completely. Each individual pixel has a tiny amount of organic material that fluoresces when current flows, so the pixels produce light directly. It’s also possible to control brightness at a per-pixel level, saving battery life. OLEDs also display more vibrant colors, have deeper blacks, brighter whites, and a greater contrast ratio, so most people find them superior to LCDs.

The OLED manufacturing process is still very expensive – causing the price of parts to remain high. The iPhone 8 series (and older) and the new iPhone XR use LCD displays, which is why we are able to offer lower costs for most iPhone repairs, compared to Samsung device repairs and the new iPhone XS/XS Max, which use OLED displays.

OEM vs Premium vs Aftermarket

What is the difference between the OEM, High Premium, Premium, and Aftermarket screens for the new iPhones?

There are generally four different types of screens customers can choose from based on quality, functionality, and price. At Cell Phone Restore Houston, we let the customer decide which screen best suits their needs and budget! Click here to visit our " Screen Replacement Types" page to learn more about each type!
